Decorated End Table

My mom offered this little side table to me a while ago. She has several tables like this in her house with table clothes draped over them. At first, I didn't really care for them. I'd rather have a table with a drawer in it. But then, I got this really great idea. This idea mostly comes from a table (just like this one) that my sister's creative room mate decoupaged with a fun, funky design on top. I took the idea and ran with it.

Since daisy's are my favorite...

I painted the table (yes me...painting...crazy!) black and then cut the petal shapes out of fabric that I picked up at Wally world for $1. I, of course, decoupaged the fabric on. There is also a glass piece that lays on top for a more finished look, but it was creating a glare for my camera.

I'm pretty excited, what do you think?

Things that GO!

I've spent a lot of time over the past couple weeks trying to get our house in order, unpacking the few boxes that were still lingering in the corners. I was pretty pleased with how things were looking, but then Ande took over.

He has turned our living room into his personal parking lot...

He loves anything to do with transportation: cars, trucks, air planes, but most of all, motorcycles! That is why I was so excited to find this little guy:
I got it from the Goodwill for only $2! It has made my little Ande so extremely happy. As you can see above, he's already doing tricks on it, as well as taking his baby cousin Charlie for rides around the house (with me holding on to him of course!).

{he keeps laying his blankie, ever so gently, over the handlebars...such a tender soul he is}

Speaking of little Ande...he's not so little anymore! He's talking A LOT, picking up little phrases all the time. He says things that I never even say, so I'm wondering where he hears this stuff!

His favorite thing to say at the moment is "No Way!" and just this morning he kept saying "Going Away" as Curtis was getting ready for work. Genius I tell ya!

A few more cousin pictures

I found a few more pictures that didn't make it into my last post that I just HAD to share.

{this is my favorite picture of all- Ashley & Brixston}

{This was supposed to go along with all the other collages I made from Colorado}

{Cupcakes!}

diy love {More Mod Podge and Headbands}

Yes, that's right.

I've been mod podging with fabric again.

I am still in awe of this. The fabric sticks so well and conforms to the shape of the wood perfectly. It's amazing. So, I got these little star hooks a while ago from Curtis. Because I'm such a horrible painter, they've been sitting around our house waiting to be finished and ready to hang. Finally, I found the perfect use for them!

[Headband and Hair clip holders]

And for some reason, I've been really into headbands lately. I usually don't wear them because of the intense pain I feel behind my ears from the squeezing of the headband. Luckily, I found these great headbands by Goody. They are so light that you can hardly tell that it's in your hair! Perfect.

Pretty soon I'm going to be offering tons of headbands for my shop with removable Curtsay daisy's and Curtsay daisy mini's. I am so excited for you to see, but they aren't quite ready yet.

So for now, I made myself a {Gussy} inspired headband:

What do you think?
How do you feel about headbands?
Would you buy a curtsay daisy headband?

Versatile Blogger Award

Ellen from {Creative Passage} has so graciously given me the Versatile Blogger Award!

Thanks Ellen! I am honored!

(I'm on my parents computer and couldn't download the Versatile blogger award logo. I'll add it later.)

So with this award comes a little responsibility.
First, I have to tell you 7 things about myself [that seems like a lot, I may not have 7 things to tell you!]
Second, I get to pass this award along to 5 blogs that I have recently discovered. Considering I've only been in the blogging world for a few months, that could be any blog that I read.

Now I get to bore you with fun facts about myself:

1- I taught myself to crochet just a few months ago, and I love it!
2- I love to sew, but am terrible at it
3- I eat ice cream every night as long as we have it. I have been known to eat it with lunch on occasion as well...
4- I have a BFA in dance performance
5- I very much dislike cooking, if it were up to me, we'd have a live-in cook at our house
6- I'm very organized
7- Here's a fun fact: I can't think of anything else to tell you!

Now for the good part.
Here are 5 great bloggers for you to check out. I may have cheated a little because 3 of these are blogs of my good friends. The other 2 are just some blogs that I have enjoyed reading lately.

All of these bloggers are fantastic:

1- Courtney @ Courtney Marie
{My awesome bestie who writes so eloquently. She'll keep you thinking!}

2- Marisha @ Frugally Marisha
{A fabulous new coupon blog. She leads you to great deals, gives tips, and updates constantly!}

3- Emily @ Funfetti Photography
{A new photography blog. I've always been amazed by the pictures on her family blog and now she has a blog dedicated to her great photographs!}

4- Jerri @ Simply Sweet Home
{So many great recipes on this blog along with other awesome creative ideas!}

5- Amy @ Serving pink lemonade
{I love all of the ideas for kids here, especially crafts geared toward little boys like the felt car mats!}

Reunion Part 2

What a fun, crazy, awesome time we had these past 3 weeks.

As I already posted, we spent the first week in Sandford, Colorado where we enjoyed the country, small town parades, sand dunes, and riding horses.

The next week, as soon as everyone arrived, we started the real reunion festivities. We got to attend baby Bowen's blessing which was wonderful. We also got some more great family pictures taken:

We attended the Mt. Timpanogas temple as our date night, had some hilarious Olympics in the backyard, and finally we took off into the Uinta mountains to hang in a huge cabin for a few days. We had such a good time being with family, and I am so glad that Ande was able to spend so much time with his cousins. He seems to have grown up so much since being there.

Probably my favorite part {besides the blind karaoke, of course! ;) } were the dirt bikes and 4-wheelers.
We had a particularly amazing ride the day that we found the mountain trails. One broken bike, knee deep mud pits, and one 4-wheeler crash later, we found ourselves wind blown and covered in mud! It was the most fun I've had in a long time. And even more spectacular was the fact that I even learned to drive the dirt bike on my own. Now we know what we want for Christmas....Dad?!?

Can't wait till next Summer...New Hampshire here we come!

Toddlers and Airplanes

About a month ago, I mentioned our upcoming plane ride to Utah to visit the family in [this post]. I was pretty worried about flying alone with a very wiggly one year old.

So now, two plane rides later, I wanted to give you an update on how it went and what I found to be the best remedy for a busy baby in a confined space.

There are 3 main things that saved me:

1. Sleep. On both the going and return flights, we had to make one stop. Each time, the first flight of the day left at 6:45am, so we had to get up around 5am to get to the airport. I'm sure you are cringing right now, but let me tell you how it saved me. Little Ande was so exhausted that by the time we got on our connecting flight, he zonked right out! We made a little pallet on the floor with his blanket and the buzz of the plane was the perfect thing to lull him right to sleep. So, when booking flights, choose your times wisely!

2. Cars!
This might not work for everybody, but my little guy is obsessed with cars lately. He just recently figured out how to play with them (with help from his cousins I'm sure) and has been driving them around going, "Bbbbrrrmmmm" constantly.

So, maybe your child doesn't like cars, but find just one toy that they really like. I totally over-prepared for the flights stuffing lots of toys, puzzles, even play-do into my back pack. Ande hardly played with any of them. The only gadgets that kept him busy were these cars and books. I guess what I'm trying to say is, keep it simple!

3. Snacks!!!! Seriously, more than anything else, Ande remained occupied by food. I sat him down with a bag of lucky charms on the pallet we made on the floor. It worked wonders. I specifically think the lucky charms did the trick. He was in constant pursuit of picking out every last marshmallow from the bag.

Watching him search for the colorful marshmallows gave me the idea for a great learning tool.

{The Eye Spy Bag}

I know I am not the first to think of this idea. I have seen these in people's cars and at church for years, but they can be so expensive to buy or make! I decided to come up with my own easier, and cheaper version. I didn't buy ANYTHING for this project...everything I used, I found laying around my house.

I found several small knick-knacks to put inside the eye spy bag. I also found some sequins and stick-on foam letters/numbers that I've had for a while.
Then, all I needed was a ziploc bag (I used a freezer bag because it is a little stronger) and rice.
I put the knick-knacks, some numbers and letters, and a sprinkle of sequins in the ziploc back and then filled it up about 3/4 full with the rice.
If you want it to be really easy, then that's it....you're done!

However, I wanted to fancy it up just a tad.

I cut a 12" by 14" piece of fabric.
I then folded and ironed each edge over about 1"- 1 1/2".
Here is what it looks like now:
I then folded and ironed each edge over one more time to look like this:
I then sewed down the folded corners to create a pocket type thing. Then, all I did was slip the ziploc bag full of goodies inside the pocket and I was done!
Here is the back:
Here is the front:
What do you think?

I am very pleased with how it turned out. I love that you can easy remove the ziploc bag from the fabric pocket to replace, refill, whatever! I also plan to make a little laminated card that lists all of the items inside that I will attach to the pocket.

This tool is perfect for plane rides, car rides, or just everyday learning fun for your kids!

Craft Exchange

{A Craft Exchange Party}

A friend of mine from church had the idea for a fabulous craft party. She invited about 10 of her most crafty friends to come and exchange their handiwork. Every body brought a personally handmade item (enough for everyone in attendance). You then get to go home with 10 new items! Is that a good idea or what?

Unfortunately, I was out of town and could not attend, but I know for a fact that this was one awesome party! She says she's not that crafty, but checkout the amazing party decorations and favors made by the hostess here: [Southern Sunshine] Just gorgeous! And, although I didn't attend, I still participated by sending some goodies her way and in return getting a great loot of crafty goodness.

Here are just a couple of the gifts that were exchanged:

I am always inspired by others' creativity. What a great way to share!
