Sunday Snapshots {a very choo choo halloween!}

Sometimes, a simple costume is the best kind of costume.

Every time someone has asked, Ande told them he was going to be Spiderman for Halloween.

That's really funny to me.

Ande doesn't really know who spiderman is.

Do I know where he got that from?
No. I do not.

Luckily he liked Curt's train conductor costume idea too.
Curtis had the idea, I made the hat, and all Ande had to do was look cute.
Mission accomplished.

Friday Finds {pop sickle stick puzzles}

Whycome our house can not stay clean for more than 5 minutes?
I feel like all I do is wash dishes, fold laundry, and step on cars.
Maybe that's why I have been neglecting this here blog lately.
Sorry folks.
(Did I just complain about my lack of blogging last time I did Friday Finds too? There's a trend happening here.)
My once creative brain is in a slump.
I can't think of anything good to tell you anymore.
I also used to remember everything.
Curtis is the one who forgets/loses things.
But now, I can't even remember my keys, or Ande's shoes, or anybody's name.
What's happening to me!?
Oh yeah...2 little boys happened.
Or maybe I've been watching too much Grey's Anatomy on netflix.
I can't stop, and now I'm a hypochondriac.

Anyways.
I really like this idea for a quick and easy kid craft.

I may skip the spray painting and go straight to the picture drawing.
Maybe I could let Ande color the pop sickle sticks first and then draw the pictures.
You could do this with any holiday or maybe this crazy idea: draw some cars and trucks!

cotton candy and roller coasters

If you know me,
then you know that I am hardcore when it comes to sleep schedules.

Well, Ande must be the luckiest boy in the world, because I let him stay up until 10pm the other night.
We took him to the Fair for the first time, and he LOVED it!

That makes me so happy, because I have always been a fair lover.
I used to look forward to the fair like it was Christmas or something.
I know, that's weird. Whatever.

There were all kinds of fun kid rides.
I thought Ande would be a little timid and scared on these things,
but boy was I wrong.
He loved them, and loved going fast.
That's my boy!

Although, I think the bus ride over to the fair was his favorite part.
That, and the cotton candy.

He had a pretty good time getting his hand licked by goats,

and camels...

And by the time we were riding home,
his face was covered with cotton candy, chocolate, and a big ole' grin.

It was about 10 o'clock when we got home, and his tired little eyes shut as soon as we laid him in bed.

this is me

I just updated my "About Me" section.
For all of you that might be new readers, this is for you.

Hey ya'll!

I'm Lindsay.

This is me:

I have a really cute family.
This is them:

I love being surrounded by boys.
But I also love being girly.

I grew up dancing and even studied it in college.
I also enjoy exercising and yoga.

I dream of traveling across Europe one day,
but my absolute favorite place is the beach.
The Outer Banks of N.C. are wonderful.
I grew up going there,
I got engaged there,
and now I get to enjoy spending time with my boys there.

I spend my days hanging out with my little munchkins.
We have a lot of fun together.
Once in a while I do a little crafting to give myself a little "frill" in this boy filled life.
I love to sew, but I don't consider myself very good at it.
Most of all, I love to crochet.
I love my little crochet shop, Curtsay Designs because it is such a great outlet for my creativity.
In it you can find cute little things like this:

My blog is called Love City because I blog about the things I love.
I love my husband, my boys, dancing, sewing, and crochet.
As I post about the things I love,
I'm often reminded of the great life I live and how blessed I am for all that I have.

~Thanks for stopping by~

pumpkin carving

The excitement for Fall is all around us.
Although the weather hasn't cooled off too much yet, there are wreaths on the doors, leaves on the ground, and pumpkin patches popping up all around.

This handsome fella,
(who finally figured out how to pedal his bike - yay!),
decided it was time to carve our pumpkins.

Even though this is his 3rd Halloween, this was the first time we have carved pumpkins with him.
Every year we buy pumpkins and they end up sitting, un-carved, on the porch until Christmas.

He was so excited and amazed to see what was actually inside of a pumpkin.

Meanwhile, baby Obo was excited and amazed to finally find his fist.
Mmmm, tasty.

It is so fun to watch children when they are learning something new.

They just seem to soak up every little bit of information.

I love the smell of pumpkins.

I love the crunch of fallen leaves.

I can remember jumping in huge piles of leaves at my friend's house when we were younger.
We played all kinds of games in the piles.
We would have her little brother hide a frisby in the leaves and then we would race to see who could find it first.
That was fun.

Too bad our yard only has piles of pine straw.
That's no fun to jump in.

I can't wait for the weather to get a little more crisp so the boys can wear cute little hats and gloves and so I can cozy up in some fun scarves and sweaters!

Mousey

So, I got a request for another hat.

A mouse hat.

So, I made it.

And I kinda like it.

I also kinda like these silly faces baby Owen makes.

We like to call baby Owen Obo (oh-bow).
He is 2 months old now.
He is really smiley and I'm pretty sure he giggled at me.
When he wakes up from his nap, I come in and roll him over (because he'll only sleep on his stomach) and as soon as he opens his eyes, he looks at me and just smiles his crooked smile with his little tongue sticking out.
I love that part of my day.

I also love how Ande wakes up from his nap about 30 minutes before Owen.
One day I brought him into my room after his nap and he got on the bed and said,
"Mommy, come snuggle with me!"
That just warms the cockles of my heart!

Happy Monday folks.

Friday Finds {lace infinity scarf}

I haven't posted all week.
Oops.
It has been a pretty crummy week because we have all been feeling pretty crummy.
As soon as Ande started to get better from his ear infection, I started to get worse.
Basically, my bed has become my best friend this week and the piles of tissues and cough drop wrappers have been accumulating.
(Most of those wrappers are a result of Ande thinking the cough drops are the best "candy" he's ever tasted)

But, even though I've been sleeping like a narcoleptic this week, I still managed to find this cute scarf tutorial.

Tired of all the lace I post on this blog yet? I'm not.

Sunday Snapshots - pottys, pumpkins, and runny noses

We put big boy underwear on Ande this weekend.
We started off with a bang. Two successful trips to the potty before lunch time.
Well, my big plans always seem to backfire on me.
The rest of the weekend wasn't so successful.
I suppose we will keep trying.
We can't back out now.
Or can we?

We had some fun at a pumpkin patch on Saturday.

This place was a dream come true for Ande.

He started out by following this little girl around for like 5 minutes straight.
I still haven't figured out whether she knew he was following her or not.
Poor girl.

There were pumpkins as far as the eye can see.

Ande was running around like a crazy person.

And then, there was the John Deere...

Be still my soul.
Well, Ande's soul, that is.

The pumpkin patch was a real high light this weekend.

The sick, runny nosed kids was the real low light.

Runny noses and ear infections mean not a lot of sleep.
Not a lot of sleep makes for grumpy kids and a grumpy mama.
My goal this week is to kick these colds to the curb.
What's yours?

Friday Finds... Slippers

I love these little slippers.

I don't know if I am skilled enough to make these things, but they sure are cute.

Ande has some monkey slippers that he pretty much wears every where we go...the doctor's office, the grocery store, Target..you name it!

It would be fun to make some more for him when his monkey's wear out.

This is a great tutorial from Craft With Confidence.

from the dungeon to the tower

"We need to move him out of the dungeon and into the tower, babe."

This is how our discussion on decorating the boy's rooms started. Curtis is so clever.

We've lived in this house for a year and a half now, I suppose it's okay to start decorating.
I've been wanting to decorate Ande and Owen's rooms for a while now, but Curtis and I have such a hard time spending money on stuff like that.
Okay...that isn't exactly the reason I keep putting it off.
Basically I do not have the best eye for decor, and this isn't the first time I'll tell you that I'm a horrible painter.
The walls are already a light green, and that isn't going to change, but I want to paint the book and toy shelves white.
I love the crisp, clean look of white furniture.
I know exactly what theme I want for each room, but executing it is a different story.
It's no secret that Ande loves cars and trucks, so that theme is going to have it's place in his room.
For Owen's room I wanted to do some sort of airplane theme.
I also want their rooms full of pictures of our families so when they are lying in bed at night, they can gaze up and remember all the people that love them.

I've been scanning Pinterest for ideas. Whoever invented Pinterest, thank you.
Here are some fun boy room ideas that I've been eyeing...

 I love this airplane art.

See how crisp the white furniture looks? I love the touches of blue and orange in this room too.

Now this bed is amazing. Curtis and I are going to work up a design similar to this for Ande's big boy bed.
A slide on a bed? How awesome is that?

I love the words on the wall and want to do this in both rooms.

Got any decorating tips and tricks? I'd love to hear them.
