crochet love {easy double crochet baby blanket}

Want to know a really easy way to make a crochet baby blanket (or even an "anybody" blanket)?

I'm talkin'... so easy, even a beginner could do it, easy.

No joke! All you need to know how to do for this project is:

Chain: with yarn fastened on to hook, or loop already on hook. yarn over, pull through loop on hook.

and your trusty,

Double Crochet: yarn over hook. place hook in next stitch. yarn over hook again. pull hook back through stitch. yarn over again. pull hook through first two loops on hook. yarn over. pull hook through last two loops on hook.

I like using bulky yarns and big hooks for large projects that I want to work up quickly.

For this project you will need:
3 (or more depending on size of blanket) skeins bulky or super bulky weight yarn
*I used Lion Brand Hometown USA in Seatle Sea Mist. It is such a pretty lavender, soft, and has a great shine.
Size L/11-8.00mm crochet hook
Scissors

Abbreviations to know:
st- stitch
sk- skip
sl st- slip stitch
ch- chain
dc- double crochet

Let's begin!

1. Ch as many as you'd like to get your desired width, making sure you ch an even number (count the ch created by fastening on as your first ch). For example, a good size baby blanket would be to ch 81.
2. Dc into 5th ch from hook. Ch 1. Sk next st. *Dc in next st. Ch 1. Sk next st. Repeat from * until one st remains. Dc in last st. Turn work.
3. Ch 3. Sk next st. *Dc in next st (which is a dc from previous round). Ch 1. Sk next st. Repeat from * until one st remains. Dc in last st. Turn work.
4. Repeat step 3 until you have reached desired length! Fasten off when completed by cutting yarn and pulling it tight through the loop. Weave in the loose ends in and out through previous stitches to hide the tail.

And that's all there is to it! Every double crochet is worked into the double crochet from the previous round, rather than the chain 1 spaces. Make sense?

What color would you make yours? I think the Daytona Lemon would look great on my purple couch!
