crochet love {yarn pom pillow}



Yarn poms are so much fun and they really spiced up this simple circular pillow! Don't ya think?



Supplies:
2 skeins Patons Beehive Baby Chunky in Lushest Lace
1 skein Patons Beehive Baby Chunky in Bigger Beige
Size L / 11 - 8.00 mm crochet hook
Scissors
Large crochet sewing needle
Pillow Filling

Abbreviations to know:
st - stitch
sl st- slip stitch
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
bpdc- back post double crochet

Terms you may not know:
Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc): Yarn over hook, insert hook from back to front to back around post of corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull through loop [yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook] two times.


Let's Begin!

Front Piece
1. With Bigger Beige: Ch 3. Sl st in first ch to form loop. Ch 2. Work 11 dc in loop (12 total including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
2. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Work 2 dc in each remaining st around (24 total including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
3. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Work 1 bpdc in next st. *2 dc in next st. 1 bpdc in next st. Repeat from * around (36 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.


4. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next st. 1 bpdc in next st. *2 dc in next st. dc in next st. 1 bpdc in next st. Repeat from * around (48 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
5. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 2 sts. 1 bpdc in next st. *2 dc in next st. dc in next 2 sts. 1 bpdc in next st. Repeat from * around (60 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.


6. Change to Lushest Lace. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 4 sts. *2 dc in next st. dc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * around (72 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
7. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 5 sts. *2 dc in next st. dc in next 5 sts. Repeat from * around (84 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
8. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 6 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 6 sts. Repeat from * around (96 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
9. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 7 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 7 sts. Repeat from * around (108 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2. Fasten off.

Back Piece
1. With Lushest Lace: Ch 3. Sl st in first ch to form loop. Ch 2. Work 11 dc in loop (12 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
2. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Work 2 dc in each remaining st around (24 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
3. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next st. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next st. Repeat from * around (36 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
4. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 2 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * around (48 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
5. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 3 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 3 sts. Repeat from * around (60 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
6. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 4 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * around (72 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
7. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 5 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 5 sts. Repeat from * around (84 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
8. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 6 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 6 sts. Repeat from * around (96 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2.
9. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Dc in next 7 sts. *2 dc in next st. Dc in next 7 sts. Repeat from * around (108 total dc including ch 2). Sl st in top loop of ch 2. Without fastening off, cut yarn so a long tail remains (approximately 3 feet, possibly more).


Make 13 yarn poms.


Connect Front and Back Piece and Add Poms
1. Lay front and back piece with wrong sides together. Working through sts from front and back piece together. Ch 1. Sc in next 8 sts. In 9th st, insert hook into st, yarn over and pull hook back through st. Insert hook through pom pom, yarn over, pull through pom pom and 2 remaining loops on hook.
2. Continue sc around connecting front and back pieces, adding a pom pom in every 9th st.
3. When 9 sts remain, add pillow stuffing.
4. Sc in next 8 sts. Sc in first ch 1 (adding a pom pom) as your final st. Fasten off. Weave in loose ends.



You're done! Hooray! Now toss that pillow up in the air and enjoy it's fuzzy fluffiness!

There are so many ways that you could alter this pattern to make it in your own style! You could add more yarn poms, or use a rainbow of colors. The possibilities are endless!
