snow day

I can remember a lot of awesome snow days as a kid, although for some reason they don't come around as often anymore. But that just means that our little southern town gets all the more excited when it actually does snow. We get 2 inches of snow and the schools are shut down for a week. It's fantastic.

Earlier this week, we woke up to a blanket of white snow covering the ground. It was so beautiful. The boys were ready to play as soon as they woke up. I tried convincing them to wait until after breakfast so that maybe it would be out of the single digit temperatures...but they were pretty determined!

We braved the cold in our not-very-snow-appropriate-snow-gear and romped around for a while. Milo wasn't a huge fan of the freezing cold wet stuff, but the big boys loved it. They have braved the cold every day since, having snow ball fights, making snow angels, eating dirty snow, and stuffing it down each others coats.

Yesterday afternoon, the sun was shining bright and the snow began to melt in our yard. Ande saw the green grass poking through. His head began to droop and tears started forming in his little blue eyes. The poor boy was devastated.

But that's what I love about this place. It snows just enough to give you a couple days of cold, wet fun and it's out of here before you have a chance to get sick of it! So, until next time snow day...
